An announcement to all young musicians interested in taking part in the Cologne Early Music Festival 2016 – “I have a dream”.
To celebrate their first five years, the Cologne Festival for Early Music is inviting young musicians from all over Europe to present their ideas, their ensembles, their music, their dreams at our upcoming festival in a brand-new format: “Spielwiese”, or “Playground”.
Conditions for entry are as follows:
you are young soloists or chamber ensembles (up to 8 musicians),
you are currently studying, or have recently completed your musical education,
you perform on period instruments in accordance with historical performance practice,
you have – or will create – a programme on the theme of this year’s festival: “I Have a Dream”, including the concepts of Night, Dream, Hope and Utopia.
The scope of the material is Early Music from its inception until the late 19th century,
Your programme may be no longer than 45 minutes,
The content of your programme is not strictly limited to music, but may include
A programmatic element – you may choose to personally guide your listeners through your programme; alternatively you could invite someone from our Early Music Centre to take over the moderation.
How to apply:
Send in a short video (between 1 and 3 minutes) presenting yourself and your programme, a curriculum vitae, a brief description of your group/ensemble, as well as the programme you are going to perform or a weblink to this programme, to the following address: firstname.lastname@example.org Entries close on 5th January, 2016.
Your video will be published on our Facebook-site and at Zamus-Youtubechannel, and can be “liked”. The number of “likes” a programme receives is counted as 50% of the final aggregate. Jurors from Zamus contribute the remaining 50% of the final score for each contestant.
On 10th January 2016 our jurors count the “likes” and individual score of each contestant, and the chosen musicians will receive an invitation to perform at our next year’s festival (on 29th February until 13th March 2016).
That is what we offer:
There will be NO set fee for performances. Donation from the audience will be collected and distributed among the performers.
We provide travel expenses and accommodation during your stay in Cologne as well as free tickets to our official concerts. We also offer a professional coaching for your ensemble (musical, performance practice, presentation) upon request.
After the performances, both audiences and jurors vote for their favourite ensemble. The winning ensemble will be invited to perform an official concert at our Festival for Early Music in 2017.
We are looking forward to have a look to your videos and we are excited to see and listen to your programs.
And maybe we`ll meet at the festival 2016!
Have fun to create the videos and good luck!
