:amateur barock orchester
For too long, non-professional enthusiasts of Baroque musical performance practice could only unpack their historic instruments in their own living rooms or at infrequent specialized courses…but that is a thing of the past! With the establishment of the :amateur barock orchester, the first amateur baroque orchestra in Germany, zamus is filling this gap in the German ensemble landscape. Dedicated musicians from all over the country regularly gather to work on large-scale Baroque works as an ensemble.
Gabriele Nußberger (strings) works together with amateur musicians to explore historically informed performance practices, including historical articulation/bowing and ornamentation, and playing without a conductor.

Gabriele Nußberger
Violinist, concertmaster and conductor Gabriele Nußberger originally comes from Munich. After studying music in Stuttgart and taking her first professional steps with the Württembergische Philharmonie, she moved to Cologne to join Concerto Köln, which also marked her transition from the modern violin to the baroque violin.
She received important musical inspiration from conductors and musicians including John Eliot Gardiner, Peter Neumann, René Jacobs, Axel Kober and Kent Nagano. As concertmaster of the Accademia Filarmonica Köln and the Barockorchester Essen, she works closely with choirs and singers, performing repertoire ranging from the Baroque to the Classical period.
Alongside her concert career, Gabriele Nußberger also teaches chamber music and orchestral courses.
