Venturing off the beaten path of works frequently performed from the standard musical repertory, zamus: early music festival aims towards creating unexpected experiences. Hallmarks of the festival include innovative concepts and building bridges between curious novices and experienced professionals.

The zamus: early music festival takes place at various locations throughout Cologne. A fundamental element of the annual program is a symposium that addresses topical sociopolitical issues. Another festival tradition is the early music marathon: a series of short concerts in a relaxed atmosphere.

zamus: academy is a program that supports emerging talent, giving young musicians the opportunity to perform at one of the leading early music festivals. The festival always concludes with a substantial, in-house production, which in past iterations has featured artists such as Juan Kruz Diaz De Garaio Esnaola, Midori Seiler, Alexandra Waierstall, Leonhard Bartussek, Folkert Uhde, Griet de Geyter, Liza Dieckwisch, Aischa-Lina Löbbert, and Laura Remmler.

The zamus: early music festival fosters surprising connections—between audiences and artists, between different genres and disciplines, and, significantly, within the early music scene itself.
