Paradise Lost

Venturing off the beaten path of frequently performed repertoire works, zamus: early music festival aims towards creating unexpected experiences. The festival's hallmarks are innovative concepts and building bridges between curious minds and professionals.

The zamus: early music festival takes place at various locations throughout Cologne. A Round Table on current socio-political topics in the early music scene is also an integral element of the annual program. Another festival tradition is the early music marathon: a series of short concerts in a relaxed atmosphere.

zamus: academy is a program that supports emerging talents, giving young musicians the opportunity to perform at one of the leading early music festivals. The festival always concludes with a substantial, in-house production, which in past iterations has featured artists such as Juan Kruz Diaz De Garaio Esnaola, Midori Seiler, Alexandra Waierstall, Leonhard Bartussek, Folkert Uhde, Griet de Geyter, Liza Dieckwisch, Aischa-Lina Löbbert, and Laura Remmler.

The zamus: early music festival fosters surprising connections—between audiences and artists, between different genres and disciplines, and, significantly, within the early music scene itself.
